Red Rock State Park is open 7 days a week from 8 am – 5 pm. The Visitor Center is open 9 am – 5 pm daily. Movie Theatre, Guided Walks, Jr. Ranger Program. The mission of the park is to preserve the riparian habitat associated with Oak Creek; to serve as an environmental education facility; and to provide limited passive recreational opportunities.

Operated and maintained by the National Forest Service, there is a small fee for entry to this well maintained picnic area with it's spectacular view of Cathedral Rock. The area is also known as Red Rock Crossing and is a mecca for Sedona photographers.

The park is named after the famous Slide Rock, a stretch of slippery creek bottom adjacent to the homestead. Visitors may slide down a slick natural water chute or wade and sun along the creek. The swim area is located on National Forest land which is jointly managed by Arizona State Parks and the U.S. Forest Service. Together these areas have seen the making of many Hollywood movies such as "Broken Arrow" (1950) with James Stewart, "Drum Beat" (1954) with Alan Ladd and Charles Bronson, "Gun Fury" (1953) with Rock Hudson and Donna Reed, and a scene from "Angel and the Badman" (1946) with John Wayne.

Gaze through the windows of the past into one of the best preserved cliff dwellings in North America. This 20 room high-rise apartment, nestled into a towering limestone cliff, tells a 1,000 year-old story of ingenuity and survival in an unforgiving desert landscape. Marveling at this enduring legacy of the Sinagua culture reveals a people surprisingly similar to ourselves.

Crowning a desert hilltop is an ancient pueblo. A child scans the desert landscape for the arrival of traders. What riches will they bring? What stories will they tell? From the roof top of the Tuzigoot Pueblo it is easy to imagine such a moment. Tuzigoot is an ancient village built by the Sinagua culture. They were agriculturalists with trade connections that spanned hundreds of miles.

The Palatki Indian Ruins in Coconino National Forest, can bring you hands on close to the history of the great Sinaguan culture. Depp in Red Rock Country, a somewhat rugged but acheivable trail takes you is 1.2 miles round trip to see the some of the remaining ruins and 0.6 miles to view some excellently preserved rock art. Reservations are required.

About 4.5 miles further out from the road to Palatki, the Honanki site is but another well preserved example of life from 1000 AD to 1300 AD, a period of time longer than the existence of the USA. The road here is quite rugged, and a high clearance vehicle is recommended.

Less than 800 years ago, Wupatki Pueblo was the largest pueblo around. It flourished for a time as a meeting place of different cultures. Yet this was one of the warmest and driest places on the Colorado Plateau, offering little obvious food, water, or comfort.

Grand Canyon Village is the historic heart of development on the South Rim. Here you will find many, but not all, of the lodges, restaurants, gift shops, bookstores, and the Verkamp’s Visitor Center. Several of the buildings date from the early 1900s, including Mary Colter’s Lookout Studio and Hopi House. Enjoy the free art exhibits at Kolb Studio. Trains arrive at the Grand Canyon Depot at least once a day. Stop in Verkamp’s Visitor Center to learn more of the history of this community.

Visitors to MNA can view exhibits relating to the Museum's four main disciplines: anthropology, biology, geology, and fine art. The Museum has permanent exhibits in five galleries and changing exhibits in three additional galleries.

Lowell Observatory is an astronomical observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. Lowell Observatory was established in 1894, placing it among the oldest observatories in the United States, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965. Pluto was discovered through this telescope.

The most commonly used airport for guests arriving out of state. Drive time is generally no more than two hours, and sometimes even less. Just follow I-17 all the way to the Sedona exit, No 298, which is State Route 179.

This charming Regional Airport provides daily air service to Phoenix via U.S. Airways. Horizon Air provides multiple connecting flights to West Coast Cities. Drive time is apprx 50 to 55 Minutes from Canyon Villa.

A Small airport with no scheduled flights, it is the home of several air tour companies all the way from helicopters to bi-planes, to fixed wing aircraft with tours extending all the way to the Grand Canyon and back.

A great historical museum located in the Jordan House, the home of one of Sedona's forefathers. History in the museum covers from 1876 through today with exhibits of how life in Sedona over this whole period of time. A great way to learn about Sedona.

At one time Jerome was the 3rd largest town in Arizona with a population in excess of 20,000. Founded as a copper mining town, it became a true ghost town in the mid 1950's when the mining came to an end. The founder's mansion now serves as a historical museum for a town with eclectic shops, art studios, restaurants and historical buildings.

This state park is an outstanding example of forts from the Indian Wars period in Arizona. Commanded by the famous General Crook this was headquarters and home of officers, doctors, soldiers, and Crooks many scouts. Many of the original buildings still stand and are open to take you into the past. Located just 20 minutes south of Canyon Villa off I-17 in Camp Verde.

Built in 1956, this Catholic Monument has been an inspiration to locals and visiters alike from the day of it's opening. An incredible piece of architecture, the chapel is located just a few miles north of Canyon Villa off SR 179 in the heart of the Red Rocks.
